We currently have about 40 members, drawn from towns and villages across North Dorset.​

Sturminster Choral Society is a mixed choir that rehearses and performs in the North Dorset market town of Sturminster Newton. Our aim is to offer people in the community the opportunity to sing choral music in a relaxed, friendly environment, but with the motivation of a concert performance twice a year.

We warmly welcome new members and are happy for people to try us out for a couple of weeks before signing up. We all love music, but some of us have not sung before, some are coming back to singing after a break (perhaps for the first time since school), while a few of our members are more experienced singers.

Some of us can sight-read, some of us can’t. We do not hold auditions, much preferring to give everyone the chance to sing.

​

The best time to join is at the start of a term, as attendance at all rehearsals is usually required before performing at a concert.

​

Music is provided - the hire cost of which is included in the fees for the term.

​

Fees for 2026 spring term:  £56 per term, or £102 for couples (or £112 if you would like to waive the couples discount).
